About Us
Archet Olier was created from a simple idea: to offer musicians a thoughtful and trustworthy approach to finding the right bow.
As violinists ourselves, we understand how challenging it can be to find a bow that truly matches one’s instrument and musical voice. After years of experience and close collaboration within the field of fine bows and instruments, we decided to bring this knowledge into a new project based in Milan.
Archet Olier is dedicated to presenting a carefully selected range of fine bows, chosen for their quality, character, and playability. Our aim is to provide a transparent, musician-friendly, and professional environment in which players can explore and choose with confidence.
Archet Olier was founded by Sebastian Canellis-Olier, a professional violinist with an active international career. He has worked regularly with ensembles such as the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, the BBC Philharmonic, and the Bern Symphony Orchestra, and has performed as principal with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Welsh National Opera Orchestra.
A recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation scholarship, he completed his Master’s studies at the Haute École de Musique de Lausanne.
Alongside his performing career, Sebastian has developed a long-standing passion for violin and bow making. Through close collaboration with one of the most renowned violin bow makers and dealers, he has gained extensive expertise in the evaluation, selection, and trade of fine bows, developing a deep understanding of their history, craftsmanship, materials, and the subtle qualities that define an exceptional playing experience.
